Twitch money calculator
Estimate a month of Twitch income from subs, Bits and ads, with your own revenue share.
What ad views pay
| Ad views | Estimate |
|---|---|
| 1k ad views | $3 |
| 10k ad views | $30 |
| 100k ad views | $300 |
| 1M ad views | $3,000 |
Twitch does not pay per VOD view. This row is ad impressions at the calculator’s default payout of $3 per 1,000 ad views. Subs and Bits are separate and are not included. There is no official CPM to turn into a range, so the cell is that single default.
How much Twitch streamers make per sub, per Bit and per ad
With the defaults, 100 active subscribers at a $5.99 Tier 1 price and a 50% share bring $299.50 a month. 5,000 Bits add $50. Ads, at 50 average viewers over 60 hours with about six ad views per viewer per hour and a $3 payout per 1,000, add $54. That is about $404 a month before tax, and subscriptions make up most of it.
At the time of writing, a Tier 1 sub costs $5.99 in the US (up from $4.99 since July 2024), with Tier 2 at $9.99 and Tier 3 at $24.99, and Twitch uses lower local prices in many countries. If a large part of your audience lives in a region with local pricing, your average revenue per sub will be below $5.99; enter the average from your payout reports instead.
The standard split has commonly been 50/50 on subscription revenue. At the time of writing, Twitch’s Plus program raises the share to 60% for channels holding 100 Plus Points (recurring paid subs) and 70% at 300, for three consecutive months, and some streamers have their own contracts. The threshold and the share have changed more than once, so check the current terms in your Creator Dashboard.
Ad income is the least predictable line. Subscribers to your channel often see no ads, some viewers block them, and not every ad break is filled. Twitch has also run incentive programs that pay a fixed amount for streaming with a set number of ads per hour. Use your real ad payout over a few months rather than the default CPM once you have it.
To join the Affiliate program and start earning at all, at the time of writing you need, within 30 days, at least 25 followers, 4 hours of streaming on at least 4 different days, and an average of 3 or more concurrent viewers on 4 different days (Twitch lowered these thresholds in May 2026). Partner status asks for more and is reviewed by Twitch.
Many streamers earn as much again outside Twitch’s own payouts: sponsorships priced on average concurrent viewers, tips through third-party services, merchandise and edited highlights uploaded to YouTube. They are left out of the calculator because they vary too much between channels, but track them next to the platform lines when you decide whether streaming can pay a salary.
| Active subs | 50% share | 60% share | 70% share |
|---|---|---|---|
| 50 | $149.75 | $179.70 | $209.65 |
| 100 | $299.50 | $359.40 | $419.30 |
| 250 | $748.75 | $898.50 | $1,048.25 |
| 500 | $1,497.50 | $1,797.00 | $2,096.50 |
How it works
Twitch income has three parts: your share of subscriptions, Bits (creators receive one cent per Bit) and ads run during your streams.
Ads assume three minutes of ads per hour, about six ad views per viewer per hour, paid at the CPM you enter. Your real ad payout is in the Creator Dashboard.
Sponsorships and donations through other services come on top and are often the biggest line for mid-sized streamers.
Questions
What revenue share do Twitch streamers get?
Commonly 50% of subscription revenue, with higher shares available through Twitch programs. Enter your own share.
How much is a Bit worth to the streamer?
One cent per Bit, so 100 Bits pays the streamer $1.
How much does a Twitch streamer make with 100 subs?
About $300 a month from subscriptions, at a $5.99 Tier 1 price and a 50% share. Regional prices lower that, while Bits, ads and outside sponsorships add to it.
How many viewers do you need to make money on Twitch?
To become an Affiliate you need an average of at least 3 concurrent viewers at the time of writing. Beyond that, income follows how many viewers subscribe or cheer, which varies a lot between communities, so use your own ratio in the calculator.
Do gifted subs pay the streamer the same?
Yes. A gifted sub is a paid subscription bought by another viewer, and you receive your usual share of it. Gifted subs do not renew automatically, so they can make monthly income jumpy.
Do Prime Gaming subs pay streamers?
Yes. A Prime Gaming sub counts as a subscription to your channel and pays you a share, but it does not renew on its own: the viewer has to use it again each month. Check your payout report for how Prime subs are paid in your region.
How much do Twitch streamers make per hour?
Divide the monthly total by hours streamed. With the defaults, about $354 over 60 hours is roughly $5.90 per hour live, before tax, and before the time spent preparing, editing and promoting streams.
