How much X pays creators per million impressions

X does not publish a fixed rate. At the time of writing, X pays creators through Original Content Rewards, which replaced creator revenue sharing in September 2026, and payouts depend on how verified users engage with your original posts, so two accounts with the same impressions can be paid very different amounts. The calculator uses a payout per million verified impressions because it is a simple way to turn your own payout history into a forecast.

To find your rate, divide a past payout by the verified impressions it covered, in millions. A $40 payout for 5 million verified impressions is $8 per million, the calculator’s default. With 2 million verified impressions a month at that rate you would earn $16 in creator payouts; add 20 subscribers paying you $3 each and the month comes to $76, or $912 a year at the same pace.

At the time of writing, X’s Original Content Rewards program asks for an active Premium, Premium+ or Premium Business subscription, at least 500 verified followers and at least 500,000 Home Timeline impressions from verified users on your original posts in the last 90 days (replies do not count), and you must be 18 or over. Payouts arrive every two weeks once your balance reaches $30. X replaced its older revenue sharing program, which asked for 5 million impressions in three months, with this one in September 2026, and it has changed the rules several times, so check the current terms in your account’s monetisation settings.

Payouts move a lot from one period to the next. A post can go viral among people who do not pay for Premium and add little to your payout, ad demand rises and falls through the year, and rule changes can reset what you earned before. Subscriptions are steadier because they depend on people who chose to pay you.

Treat the result as a range. Run the calculator once with your lowest recent payout rate and once with your highest. If the difference matters for a decision, such as whether to keep paying for Premium, plan on the lower figure.

For most writers on X, the platform’s payments are small next to what the audience is worth elsewhere. Sending readers to a newsletter, a product or a paid community usually earns more per follower than X’s creator payouts, which is worth keeping in mind when you decide whether to pay for Premium.

How it works

X shares ad revenue with eligible creators based on engagement from verified (Premium) users, not on all impressions. Payouts reported by creators vary a lot month to month.

The payout rate is an editable estimate: divide your last payout by the verified impressions it covered to get your own number.

Subscriptions are usually steadier than ad sharing; enter what you keep after X’s and the app stores’ fees.

Questions

How much does X pay per impression?

There is no fixed rate. It depends on engagement from verified users and on ad demand. Use your own past payouts to calibrate the rate.

Who is eligible?

X sets eligibility rules (such as a Premium subscription and minimum impressions and followers) and changes them over time. Check the current requirements in your account.

Why is my X payout so low?

Creator payouts at the time of writing depend on engagement from verified users with your original posts, not on all impressions. If most of your readers do not pay for Premium, or a big post spread mainly outside that group, the payout will look small next to your total impressions.

How do I work out my own payout rate on X?

Divide each payout by the verified impressions in the period it covered, in millions, and average the last few periods. Put that number in the calculator instead of the default.

Do X subscriptions pay more than creator payouts?

For small, loyal audiences they often do. Fifty subscribers paying you $3 each bring $150 a month, while 5 million verified impressions at $8 per million bring $40.

Is X Premium worth paying for to get paid?

Only if your expected payout is higher than the subscription, or if Premium features help you grow in other ways. Run your numbers in the calculator, then compare the result with the Premium price shown for your country.

Can you make a living from X payouts?

A few very large accounts can, but for most creators the payouts are a small extra. X tends to pay off more as a place to find readers for a newsletter, a product or client work.
